I’ll be hitting the road this spring, setting up in artist alley at Emerald City Comic-Con in Seattle on March 2–5, and Chicago’s C2E2 on April 21–23. If you’d like to preorder a commission for either show, email me at SteveBryantArt@gmail.com. Prices are listed in the image above and additional examples can be found on the Commissions page of this site.
I’ll be tabling at the MSP ComiCon in Minneapolis/St. Paul on May 14 and 15! My commission preorder list for the show is open! Click here to get details and order yours!
It’s that time again. For me, convention season kicks off with C2E2 in Chicago and this year is no exception. It’s always a great show and I consider it to be my “home” show.
This year, I’ll have my usual assortment of prints and original art, as well as previews of upcoming projects. And plenty of books and comics. I’ll have stacks of the Athena Voltaire Compendium. With a purchase of the 240-page hardcover Compendium, you’ll get an exclusive C2E2 bookplate, an Athena Voltaire bookmark, and an Athena Voltaire button (while supplies last)—all for a mere $20!
I’ll also have a C2E2 exclusive edition of Ghoul Scouts, my new comic from Action Lab (in comic shops June 8, 2016).
You can find me in Artist Alley, at table F2. Below is a map to help you find me. I hope to see you there!
Ulp! I was doing pretty well updating this site, and then fell off the cliff after San Diego Comic-Con. That show really takes a lot out of a guy!
Since my last post, I was fortunate to be nominated for a few Harvey Awards. The ceremony is tomorrow night (September 26) at Baltimore Comic-Con. Given the other creators nominated in the categories I am, I don’t expect to win. But it’s truly an honor to be considered.
I’ll be back at San Diego Comic-Con—or, as it’s become known, Comic-Con International—from Wednesday, July 8 through Sunday, July 12! Here’s where you can find me:
Zooming in on that map, you’ll see I’m in the Small Press Pavilion, booth M-14. As has been the case for the last 5 or 6 years, I’ll be tabling right next to my pal, writer-artist-publisher Jim Heffron (M-15, Lawdog Comics). Across the aisle is another friend, writer-publisher Mike Heffron (L-02, Arch Blue Comics). Shuttling between all three of our booths is our compadre, writer-editor Chris Murrin.
Of course, I’ll have a bunch of copies of the Athena Voltaire Compendium with me—and plenty of AV bookmarks and buttons to give away with each purchase. Additionally, I’ll have exclusive convention-only ashcans of Undead or Alive with me.
I’ll be bringing my new Athena Voltaire print, A Quiet Drink with the Archaeology Professor.
And my usual assortment of prints—$10 each, 3 for $25, and 5 for $40.
I’ll have three portfolios or original art, priced from $20 and up.
And I’m really hoping to see at least one Athena Voltaire cosplayer!
I had a blast at HeroesCon—the show was everything I was told it would be! Friendly fans, a terrific artist-centric community, and a lot of fun! And look, I finally remembered to photograph my table!
It’s always gratifying when someone brings books to have signed. The effort involved to dig out books and make a point of packing and bringing them for a signature will never stop being flattering. Thanks to all who did so. And a special thanks to my pal Kirk Spencer, who brought pretty much everything I’ve ever worked on!
And a sincere thanks to all who stopped by to check out Athena Voltaire for the first time. I hope you enjoy the book!
Last but not least, I had the pleasure of tabling next to Martin Pierro of Cosmic Times. Martin’s a great guy and you should definitely check his books out!
I’ll be making my first trip to HeroesCon in Charlotte, NC this weekend! I’ve heard so much about the show and I’m excited to participate. Look for me in Artist Alley, at table 1413.
I’ll have a convention exclusive Athena Voltaire retro mini-print (8.5×11) with me. This is free and only available when you buy the Athena Voltaire Compendium from me at the show. Additionally, I’ll have Athena Voltaire buttons and bookmarks free with purchase (while supplies last).
I’ll also have my new Athena Voltaire print, A Quiet Drink with the Archaeology Professor.
And I’ll have a bunch of other prints with me, too.
I plan on sketching at the show. I’m slow, so if you’re bringing a sketchbook, I may ask if I can bring it back to my hotel room to work on after the show. Regardless, $50 gets you a 9×12 single character in ink.
And to top it all off, I’ll have 3 portfolios of original art, starting at $20 (and up).
I hope you stop by!
Cosplay as Athena Voltaire at San Diego Comic-Con and win artwork! It’s as easy as that. Dress up as my favorite globetrotting aviatrix, stop by my table in Small Press (M14), and show off your handiwork.
The first cosplayer to do so will get a free 9×12 original commission featuring the character of your choosing! In the event that more than one AV cosplayer stops by, I’ll give every entrant a print of their choice.
If you’re unfamiliar with Athena Voltaire and want to buy the book to prepare a costume, you can shop for it here.
Looking forward to seeing you!
Our C2E2 adventure started with car trouble just as Kerrie and I were getting on the highway Thursday night, delaying our drive to Chicago for the show. Friday morning, rental car procured, we were on the road and were set up between noon and 1:00 pm. We were unsure what to expect: I haven’t had a new book in years, plus we needed to leave Sunday around 1:00 pm, in order to pick up our dog where he was boarded.
Pretty much, we were looking at a two-day convention.
In those two days, I sold twice as many copies of the Athena Voltaire Compendium as I did either previous AV book at any three or four-day show I’ve set up at. And, between pre-order commissions and on-site sketches, I did more drawings than ever before at a convention. Here’s a sampling:
But a con experience isn’t just measured in sales. I caught up with countless old friends, and made a ton of new ones along the way. Some day, I really should take a notebook with me to get all of the names…until then, if you stopped by to chat, thank you for making this last C2E2 such an amazing show.
I’ll be at C2E2 in Chicago this weekend, April 24–26. In addition to the usual: original art, prints, and sketchbooks, I’ll have copies of the Athena Voltaire Compendium. With a purchase of the 240-page hardcover Compendium, you’ll get an exclusive C2E2 bookplate, an Athena Voltaire bookmark, and an Athena Voltaire button (while supplies last)—all for a mere $20!
I’ll also be debuting my new print, A Quiet Drink with the Archaeology Professor:
And I’ll have a work-in-progress preview copy of the upcoming Athena Voltaire and the Volcano Goddess graphic novel.
Look for me at the circled spot in Artist Alley, with the banner shown on the map!
